Queen's began their league campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Stenhousemuir, with Paul McGrillen scoring the winner for Stenny with five minutes left.

Billy Stark made one change from the side that started against Hamilton. David Weatherston replacing John Weir.

It took eighteen minutes for the first real action of the game and sadly that was the time of the visitors opening goal, ex-spider Frankie Carroll let the ball roll through him to David McInally who rattled a shot off the bar and past David Crawford.

Stenny striker Colin Cramb talked his way into a booking on twenty-five minutes after he kicked the ball into the stand after being found offside by the linesman.

Shaun Molloy created a great chance for Queen's minutes later. He skipped by two defenders and then beat Marc McKenzie to the ball. He set himself up, only to sent his shot right at Willie McCulloch.

Queen's managed to get the equaliser on the half hour. Steve Reilly played a long ball to Stuart Kettlewell who then lobbed McCulloch and into the back of the net.

Six minutes later Richard Bowers set up Harvey who sent a cheeky shot past McCulloch's right hand post.

John Weir replaced Stuart Kettlewell at half time, but, Queen's were forced to weather a twenty minute storm from Stenny, But, Steven Reilly & Richard Sinclair kept Frankie Carroll & Colin Cramb from making any real damage.

Davie Weatherston came close to a spectacaluar diving header when Richard Bowers played the ball across the six yard box.

Queen's and Stenny made many more chances each, the best falling to Jonny Whelan, who managed to sky the ball from six yards.

Then with five minutes remaining Paul McGrillen won the game for Stenny when Frankie Carroll set up McGrillen who drilled the ball past Crawford.

We had our chances today and if we play like we did we should get a result on Tuesday against Shire.
