Soft Goals Strike Spiders , Queen's Park 2 - 3 Cowdenbeath

Last updated : 29 December 2004 By Andyboy
Cowdenbeath travelled west to Hampden knowing that a win would send them clear in third place. QP with the same incentive were still in the middle of an injury crisis. Which seen Steven McGovern & Brian Blair joined by Jonny Whelan , Danny Ferry & David Weatherston on the bench.

In the last 4 encounters against Cowden we have scored in the first 10 minutes of play , and only once ran out victorious.

And true to that pattern QP took the lead in the 9th Minute. Alan Trouten with a bit of skill beat Gary Fusco and slotted the ball past Fleming. That lead only lasted 3 minutes. When Darren Gribben played through Liam Buchanan who fired past DC.

Referee McDonald then produced two yellow cards , Steven Reilly for a late challenge and Paul Harvey for dissent after a foul went against him.

On the 35th minute Queen's continued their history of conceding daft goals. A cut back from Shiels on the edge of the box found Gribben who slotted by Crawford.

QP had one last chance before half-time. Mark Ferry played through Frankie Carroll who should have done better with his strike which he put across goal.

Queens' did get the equaliser 25 seconds into the second half. A long ball from Sinclair found Trouten who used his strength to beat Fusco and cooly nutmegged Fleming.

But it wasn't to be as Gribben unleashed a cracking shot on goal on the hour which beat Crawford.

Queen's continued to play the ball forward but to no avail. The game went out with Whelan , Ferry & Weatherston coming on for Graham , Reilly & Clark in the dying moments.
