Shocking Spiders Mauled By Montrose, Queen's Park 0 - 3 Montrose

Queen's fell to a shocking defeat at home to Montrose after leaking three poor second half goals.

With the injury situation failing to clear up there were no changes to the Queen's starting XI with young Paul Cairney taking his place on the bench.

Queen's started quickly and created several early chances, Tommy Murray coming closest with a header which just shaved the top of the bar. Mark Ferry & Alan Trouten also threatened.

The first half was hardly pulsating stuff and not until late in the half did it burst into life with veteran Montrose keeper stopping two Ferry drives from the edge of the box.

The second half started with Montrose on top and on 53 minutes they took the lead. A corner kick was powerfully headed home by Steve Kerrigan.

Soon after that Billy Stark replaced a limping Tommy Murray with Kevin Proctor. Proctor came close with a header which was cleared off the line from a Trouten corner almost straight away.

But, in a four minute spell Queen's were well and truly put out of the game. On the 72nd minute Steven Reilly backed off from Martyn Fotheringham who curled the ball into the top corner from 25 yards. On the 76th minute Fotheringham curled a free kick into the net as David Crawford slipped on the line while attempting to palm the shot away.

The game then petered out with Jonny Whelan & Paul Cairney being introduced in place of Paul Paton and Mark Ferry.
