SFL 3rd Division - Queen's Park 5 - 0 Albion Rovers

Last updated : 04 March 2007 By Andyboy
Queen's started on the back foot in the heavy rain at Hampden and ex Queen's striker Bryan Felvus forced two decent stops from David Crawford who held both efforts well considering the extreme conditions.

Though it was Spiders who were ahead on 26 minutes, and David Weatherston was the man who netted again. His 4th in 4 games. Mark Ferry slipped a through ball onto the wonderful Weatherston and he ran onto the ball before lifting it over the Albion Rovers keeper and into the net.

Rovers fought back and could have been level through Creaney but a great save from DC kept it out. Trouten then missed a simple one-on-one with the Rovers keeper before he was denied a stonewall penalty kick when Tommy Lennox almost ripped the shirt off his back in the box.

Second half started well for Queen's and we were 2-0 ahead on 51 minutes. A through ball by Trouten found the marauding Kettlewell who despite being forced into an incredibly tight position he smacked the ball across the keeper and into the far corner of the net.

Alan Trouten then made it four when David Weatherston was chopped down in the box and ref Underhill gave Trouten the chance from the spot before Mark Ferry was stretching to knock in David Weatherston's cross at the back post for 4-0.

The rout was complete when Fez headed in an inexplicable flick on by Rovers defender Kevin Nicoll at the back stick to help Queen's continue their title charge.
