SFL 3rd Division - Queen's Park 2 - 1 East Stirlingshire

Despite it not being the best performance of this brilliant winning sequence (which now stretches back to since the 2-0 win over Shire on February 10th) Queen's ground out a 2-1 win over Gordon Wylde's basement boys at Hampden Park on Tuesday evening.

Queen's started well and Bowers and Ferry came close before Stephen Canning opened the scoring with a cracking goal. He beat three before finding himself 30 yards out and cracking the ball high into the top corner past Anton Nugent in the Shire goal. Another goal of the season contender no doubt.

We had an obvious penalty turned down by Mr Hardie when Bowers was hauled down by Carl Thywissen late in the half but 1-0 was decent enough at half time. Disaster soon into the second period however when Derek Ure (who only ever scores against Queen's) netted from close range for Shire for his second goal of the season (his other was in a 3-1 win at Hampden in December). Queen's fought back though and Robert Dunn netted his first Queen's goal to the jubilation of the Spiders players and fans.

Ronald knocked down a cross by Paul Paton and Dunn stroked the ball past Nugent from six yards when he was free in the penalty area to secure a hard fought win in Mount Florida.
