Queen's made the trip to the Kingdom of Fife for today's match against Cowdenbeath, which was to have a 2:00pm kick off due to a major international stock-car racing event being held in the evening.

Despite the supporters bus running into initial traffic after the driver failed to turn right on to Victoria Road, the support made it to the game on time, unlike the match against Cowden at the end of last season, by navigating through the backstreets of West Lothian.

Anyways, back to the game. Coach Billy Stark made no changes to the side that humbled East Stirling 3-1 at Firs Park, but, the teamsheets told a different story, with Queen's veteran Jonny Whelan being listed as Jonothon 'Whitelaw'.

The game began with no real action and it took 23 minutes for the first real chance, which Queen's scored from. A corner from Paul Harvey was knocked on by a Tony Quinn overhead kick which was powerfully headed into the net by John Weir.

Cowden had a strong penalty appeal turned down on 25 minutes. Richard Sinclair fouling Robert Downs twelve yards from goal.

The half time interval came without any more real action. But Queen's were on the backfoot from the beginning of the second half. Darren Gribben coming close for Cowdenbeath.

Queen's won a penalty on the 66th minute. David Weatherston raced through on goal but Darren McGregor tripped the young striker. The yellow card came out for the Cowden defender and Stephen Reilly scored his 11th goal in a Queen's jersey.

Cowden were down to ten men two minutes later, David Weatherston raced through again and McGregor put in a shocking challenge. The second yellow came out and the red followed.

After the dismissal Bryan Felvus replaced Whelan, and nearly had an instant goal. Sloppy defending by John Ward let him race through on Davie Hay, who parried his shot wide. Weatherston was also denied a similiar goal.

Cowdenbeath had Baird booked for a bodycheck on Molloy in the last action of the game.
