Rory right on the spot

A late penalty strike from Rory McAllister sealed the points for Peterhead in a tense clash with Queen's Park.

The win sends them second, but they were made to wait until late on by a spirited performance from Queen's Park.

Anthony Quinn went close for the visitors in the 40th minute, with a right-footed volley from the centre of the area, that Paul Jarvie did well to parry.

A sustained period of pressure from the home side almost led to a breakthrough in the 46th minute, but Queen's Park's rearguard did well to snuff out the danger from a succession of corners and a free kick crossed into the box.

It looked like ending in a stalemate until James Brough brought McAllister down in the box on the 81st minute, and McAllister stepped up to put the spot-kick away and win the game.
