Mo Nick Point As Queen's Fail To Score Again, Montrose 0 - 0 Queen's Park

Last updated : 12 February 2006 By Andyboy
Queen's travelled to Montrose and despite dominating for 90 minutes we somehow failed to score the goal which would have seen us keep up with Cowdenbeath in third place.

Strangely, there was no David Weatherston in Billy Stark's sixteen and that meant a place on the bench for Jonny Whelan as Paul Harvey made his way into the starting eleven. Both Kettlewell & Quinn passed fitness tests and they also lined up for Queen's.

Queen's came out the blocks quickly but Mark Ferry drove a shot from eighteen yards just wide of the Montrose goal. Then moments after Paul Harvey teed up Tony Quinn who smashed the side netting when he should have scored. Kevin Proctor then missed an absolute sitter after skinning the defender he missed from three yards with the goal at his mercy. Ferry also somehow managed to miss a header on the line after a brilliant cross by Harvey. Then on the stroke of half time Proctor missed another glorious chance from a similiar position again.

Some scintalating football by The Spiders, then, but instead of a half time score of 0-0 it really should have been three or four before the whistle blew.

Start of the second half then and seconds in after a goalmouth scramble Molloy sclaffed a shot over from ten yards. Afterwards Harvey curled a free-kick just wide and Ferry drove off the side netting when it looked easier to score from twelve yards then he missed from six yards when Molloy drilled the ball across the six yards but Fez failed to get any pace on his shot. Proctor, Harvey, Trouten, Quinn and substitute Clark all had chances before Steve Conroy blew the whistle on a disappointing match.
