Elgin pay penalty for spot failure

Elgin missed a 74th-minute penalty as they held second-placed Queens Park to a 1-1 draw.

The away side had won the reverse fixture 6-0 in January but had substitute goalkeeper Blair Lockhead to thank for a hard-fought away point.

Elgin took a ninth-minute lead as David Niven turned in Craig Gunn's left-wing cross for his second goal of the season.

The visitors got back on level terms nine minutes before the break as Michael Daly headed home David Murray's centre for his 10th goal of the season.

Stuart Leslie was then brought down in the penalty area and Queens Park keeper Neil Park was shown a second yellow card for his protests.

Lockhead came off the bench to be the hero, saving Jason Crooks' spot-kick.
