Ross Clark’s early own goal gave East Fife all three points in an awful game of football at New Bayview which seen Queen’s lose even though David Crawford saved two penalty kicks.

Garry Kelly made the cross from the right and as Clark stuck his foot out to clear, he deceived David Crawford and the ball trickled over the line.

Queen’s lined up without two key players, Steven Reilly & Paul Harvey both failed late fitness tests and were replaced with Richard Sinclair & Alan Trouten.

Jim Moffatt’s side started the stronger with Mark Pelosi & Stuart Noble troubling Clark up the right hand side.

But, the goal that would sink Queen’s came from a cross from the right. Kelly played a neat one-two with John Bradford and his poor cross eluded two players and fell to Clark who inadvertently knocked the ball past a helpless Crawford.

The Spiders’ failed to come close but it could have been different had Jonny Whelan managed to keep his shot down from eighteen yards.

Pelosi & Noble were still causing problems and soon East Fife had a good chance. Bradford managed to head off the post from four yards.

Alan Trouten came closest for Queen’s in an awful first half, he skipped past Kelly before firing narrowly wide.

Queen’s second half start was more encouraging, we won five corners in a row, with Mick Dunlop, Mark Ferry & Jonny Whelan all came close.

Mark Ferry & John Martin were both shown a yellow card for a slight bust up in the far corner and then Stark changed his personnel. Bryan Felvus & John Weir replaced Tony Quinn & Jonny Whelan.

On 65 minutes blunder ref Chris Boyle gave the Fifers a soft penalty. Andy McGinty was adjudged to have fouled John Bradford.

But, man of the match David Crawford managed to get a hand to a good Craig Smart penalty; thankfully Bradford struck the rebound wide.

Mark Ferry & John Weir came close for Queen’s before Boyle gave another penalty. Both Richard Sinclair & Craig Smart looked to slip in the box after Sincy emerged with the ball but Boyle continued with his disastrous display with a spot kick call.

This time John Martin hit the kick but Crawford pulled off another wonder save from the spot kick.

Queen’s couldn’t find the breakthrough afterwards Felvus did come close but it wasn’t to be with a poor Spiders’ performance.
