Canning Returns As Queen's Stutter, Queen's Park 1 - 1 East Fife

Queen's Park failed to extend the gap over Arbroath to five points with a disapointing 1-1 draw at home to East Fife, in which Steven Canning returned from his second broken leg.

Queen's made a few changes from the midweek defeat at Dirty Rovers, Harvey and Weatherston came in as Kettlewell and Murray dropped to the bench.

Queen's started brighter and when attacking ity was almost a four man frontline, Clark and Quinn getting up to support Felvus and Weatherston, and it was Quinno who had the first chance driving a shot wide from twelve yards after being unleashed up the right.

Harvey was the next to have a go, his looping effort held by the huge Dodds in the Fife goal, and then Ross Clark rattled the post with a powerful twenty yard effort after Paul Harvey's cutback from a free kick.

East Fife's Kevin Gordon and Paul Hampshire both made DC work as he produced two good saves but it was Queen's who were more aggrieved at the 0-0 at Half Time.

Felvus and Weatherston both should have done better when unleashed on Dodds, both driving shots straight at the big keeper.

Queen's took the lead five minutes after the restart, Clark beat a few defenders before curling a brilliant left footed effort into the net.

Felvus then missed two great opportunities when put one-on-one with Dodds but blazed both efforts wide of the mark.

Soon after Kettlewell replaced the impressive Quinn and then Steven Canning got a loud reception from the QP faithful as he returned from a two year inury hell to replace Weatherston.

Queen's held on well and were continuing to create pressure until Gavin Beith's snapshot was deflected beyond the reach of Crawford by Sinclair.

Andrew Campbell was ordered off for a second booking for East Fife but Steven Canning and Ross Clark both missed gilt edged chances to retake the lead for Queen's.

This sets up for what will be a big match at Gayfield next week, lets get behind the boys, start to finish.
