Signed by John McCormack for his first season in charge, the towering Liverpudlian midfield player made his mark on the Spiders as we finished 6th and was again instrumental (chipping in with 9 goals) as Queen's won the Third Division championship.

He moved to Berwick in summer 2000 and came up against Queen's on a number of occasions before seeing the error of his ways and re-joining the Hampden club after 18 months at Shielfield Park and signed up once more in November 2001. He made a difference in his second debut as after a shocking start to the season John Gemmell and Chrissy Fisher fired Queen's to a 4-1 win at East Fife.

He continued at Queen's until announcing his "retirement" for the start of season 2003/04 but still agreed to usage in emergency situations, and came on as a late sub as injury hit Queen's trailed 2-0 to Peterhead with eight minutes left. He set up Frankie Carroll to make it 2-1 and layed on Ross Clark as he won the penalty which Stevie Reilly converted in 94 minutes. He was now an integral part of the team and put in some good performances towards the end of the season.

He continued to pull on the Hoops on a irregular basis and played in this seasons cup win over Aberdeen, his last Spiders appearance was against Motherwell in the CIS Cup back in September. All in all, Jonny has been a great servant to this club, all the best big man, for everyone at Queen's Park.
