David's 18 goal haul from last season made him hot property for many clubs and he inevitably said goodbye to Queen's Park to move up the leagues. It is reported that he turned down potenitial moves to Dundee United, Plymouth Argyle and Greenock Morton to sign on at McDiarmid Park, where he will be seen as a replacement of sorts, for Swansea bound Jason Scotland.

David broke into the first team towards the end of season 2003/04 at the age of 16 and after sitting on the bench for a number of weeks he made his debut in a 0-0 draw at Stirling Albion in March 2004, Weatherston showed his potential that day as a cracking volley being saved by Stirling keeper Myles Hogarth. He was a bit part player during 2004/05 and was kept out the team by the form of strikers Frankie Carroll, Ally Graham and Richard Bowers.

2005/06, however, saw Weatherston make his mark at Hampden. He scored his first Spiders goal in a 3-1 win over East Stirlingshire in a Firs Park Challenge Cup tie in early August and added a further 10 goals throughout the season, the most notable being the opener in the 2-0 Scottish Cup win over Raith Rovers. Last season, he was one of the promotion winning team's star turns, scoring 18 and setting up countless others with his incredible skill and pace.

All the best to David, will always be remembered at Hampden Park.
