Queen's Park crashed out of the Reserve League Cup by two goals to nil by a strong Gretna side at Lesser Hampden tonight. Two soft first half goals sinking the Spiders.
Queen's didn't create too many chances and the Borders side deserved to book their place in the final with a good performance. The goals both came from poorly defended corner kicks the first knocked in by the head of Berkshire and went in off Ross Dunlop before a second by Berkshire, a fine volley from the edge of the box sunk Queen's just before half time.QP had some opportunities however, Bowers had a stooping header cleared off the line and the Gretna keeper made a stunning stop to deny a Chris Colquhoun drive early on.
The squad consisted mainly of under 19s and therefore it is difficult to name a full teamline. However, first teamers Richard Bowers, Mark Cairns, Chris Colquhoun and Shaun Molloy all started while Paul Ronald was introduced in the second half.
