Queen's Park 1 - 1 Hamilton Accies

A pre match mishap involving goalposts, meant that one side was forced to use a set of seven a side goals for a half each in this match and it was a very familiar looking Queen's side which was forced to shoot that way in the first half.

Queen's lined up with long term third choice goalkeeper Alexander Cowie between the sticks, the defence consisted of Paul Paton, Mick Dunlop, Richard Sinclair and Damiano Agostini while the midfield was made up of Mark Ferry, Stuart Kettlewell, Tony Quinn and a Trialist. The two forwards were Chris Colquhoun and Robert Dunn.

The game started slowly but Hamilton almost took the lead near the beginning as a low drive from the edge of the box just cleared the post, both Mark Ferry and Stuart Kettlewell blazed over for Queen's from around 20 yards in quick succesion. It was Accies that took the lead on the half hour mark after their number 10 slammed home from ten yards after a clever free kick routine.

Queen's levelled just before half time thanks to a stunning goal from Robert Dunn. A cross into the box was sweetly volleyed on the turn by Dunnsy and the ball flew past the Accies keeper McEwan and nestled in the top corner. Both managers began to ring the changes on half time and the game turned into a pretty turgid affair, Hamilton had a chance to take the lead when a Trialist fouled an Accies forward in the box and they were awarded a penalty, which was duly blazed over the small set of goals.

A good result to begin the Spiders pre-season, which will prepare them for next week's trip to Germany.
