Hero Carroll Leaves Hampden

Frankie signed on at Hampden prior to season 1999/00 and scored a number of vital goals as Queen's lifted the Third Division Championship, his season culminating in a fine double as we lifted the title at Cowdenbeath in a 3-2 win at Central Park. He left at the end of season 2000/01 after our relegation back to Division Three but returned prior to season 2003/04 for his second spell at Hampden.

On his "second debut" he scored the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with moneybags Gretna at Raydale Park on the opening day before going on to score six goals in limited appearances that season. He shone in season 2004/05 netting 17 times in a stunning season for the wee striker and he signed for Stenhousemuir prior to 2005/06.

That spell was unsuccesful and he returned to Hampden in the summer but injury has curtailed his appearances this season. Frankie scored twice this season, in a 1-1 Hampden draw with East Fife in February and the third goal in Saturday's match.

He will go down in history as the only man to play in both Cowdenbeath 2000 and Methil 2007. All the best Frankie, a true Queen's great who will be missed at Hampden!
