Sorry Spiders fail to kill off battling Shire , Queen's Park 0-0 East Stirling

A dull draw is the only thing that could rightly match this dark & dreary Hampden Park day.

On the back of two exciting victories the Glorious Hoops were brought back down to earth by a rejuvanated East Stirling side.

There were no changes to Billy Stark's side even though a flu bug had been ripping through the side.

It seems that the one week break had a side effect on the Spiders. We just did not look like the football team we had been in previous weeks and we could have paid the price as early as 11 minutes in. Carl Twithyisen testing David Crawford.

The spiders responded positively. Mark Ferry found Kettlewell at the back post he fired right into Shire keeper Tony Mitchell and he clashed with Ketts. This was his last involvement as Martin Bonnar replaced him.

Bonnar got right stuck in setting up the hungry Trouten who forced a save from former spider Mitchell. There was another chance soon after. Paul Harvey finally
put in a good corner and Tony Mitchell made a fabulous stop to prevent Ally Graham from heading Queen's to the lead. We had yet another chance and our hero of the last few weeks , Mark Ferry , was gladly on hand to test Mitchell with a fabulous long range effort.

Only seconds were gone in the second half when Queen's could've & should've took the lead. A Mark Ferry cross sent Mitchell flapping only for Frankie Carroll being unable to control the ball quick enough.

After 62 minutes the Shire should've went 1 up. Del Ure was 1-on-1 with DC and he fired it wide with the clearest chance this game would produce.

Queen's started creating more after this. A cross for Shaun Molloy met Martin Bonnar who'se thunderous drive rattled the crossbar.

Queen's had one last chance on 89 minutes when Bryan Felvus crossed low Mitchell parried it behind him but somehow stopped it from crossing the line.

The spiders superstars (!!!!) expected a dawdle but were forced to settle for a hard fought draw with the most improved team in the U.K

QUEEN'S PARK: Crawford 7 , Trouten 8 , Molloy 6 , Sinclair 5 , Reilly 7 , P.Harvey 5 (Felvus 4) , Kettlewell 3 (Bonnar 8 (Rushford 4) , Graham 7 , Carroll 6 , M.Ferry 8

MAN OF THE MATCH: Martin Bonnar 8 , Was effective against a solid Shire defence also rattled the crossbar.
