Scottish Amateur Cup 4th Rd - Queen's Park 1 - 0 Kilsyth Amateurs

The first half was dominated by Queen's and after a series of missed opportunites and decent saves from the impressive Kilsyth no.1, we eventually took the lead midway through the first half. A long ball towards the back post was taken down well by under 19s star Smith and slammed past the keeper for the overdue opener.

The second half saw an inept refeering display annoy the small band of Spiders supporters had decided to spend their day at a chilly Lesser Hampden as the big Kilsyth men turned the game into a kicking match. Especially meaty tackles on Cairney, Paton, Waters and Colquhoun all went unpunished before the first booking was given out when a fly kick floored Alan Trouten as he raced through the middle of the visitors defence.

Despite missing even more chances Queen's couldn't widen the gap and we nearly paid when a mixup between Cowie and Capuano allowed the Kilsyth attacker to roll the ball towards the net only for a divot in the ground to send it into the side netting. Their huge no 6 then headed over from six yards from a late corner but Queen's held on to book their place in the next round.

With it largely an under 19 team it's impossible for me to do a full teamline but first team squad members Paul Paton, Xander Cowie, Paul Cairney and Alan Trouten all played. Chris Colquhoun, David Waters and Giuesspe Capuano were the other players I found recognisible.
